2019 Bennetts British Superbike rookie Ben Currie got his first taste of the ZX-10RR he’ll race next year as the Bournemouth Kawasaki rolled out for a shakedown test at Guadix.
Getting some laps in at the Spanish circuit before the rumoured testing ban in January/February, Currie joins team-mate Glenn Irwin on track for the new look line-up for the 2018 championship winning squad.
Making his debut on a superbike after finishing second in the British Supersport championship this year, Currie describes his first day on track with his new team as ‘amazing’.
“It’s my first ever time on a superbike, it’s been a amazing,” Currie said. “I felt right at home straight away and got a heap of laps in in the morning, I was enjoying myself that much I didn’t want to come in.
“The team have been awesome getting me comfortable on the bike, it’s been a really positive first day and we’ve built ourselves a good platform to work on.
“Obviously a superbike is very different from what I’ve been riding in Supersport, there’s a lot to learn but if we can build on what we’ve achieved in the first day then I feel we can be in a good position ahead of our next test in March.”
